i want to first say thanks to garrett (beastofusc) for giving me the opportunity to check out and drive his wonderful E39. It was a first for me, and i pray to god not the last.

in the bitter cold (45* lol) on sunday night, i get a text from a fellow edirty6 member wishing to meet up and check out each others rides. my mind drifted to my car which is currently limping around due to a broken sunroof lifter block, bad driverside wheel bearing, and a knock sensor in desperate need of replacing. reluctantly, i gave in and decided to cruise out to meet him in a parking lot a few blocks down from campus. as i pulled into the parking lot, i caught a glimpse of the impola red rocket underneath a streetlight. i pulled up, we got out to exchange handshakes, then instantly devled into discussions of mods/repairs/and future plans for both of our cars.
finally, the offer to take a spin in the M. i hoped in the driver seat, and we rolled out of the parking lot. i didnt get into it much because of the heavy police regulation thats usually present on that road. but let me tell you, that was one of the nicest and awe insipring rides i've ever had. although it was purely stock, i could tell that the M5 is one of the best designed and driveable cars out there. going from a 318 to that big V8 definitely had an influence on my rendition of what fast is, so i will not comment on that.

i will offer this though, to all of you who have not driven one, do it. they are amazing and i plan to own on at some point in the future

"A watched pot never boils"...Aint that the truth.

After 4 previous trips to a BMW specialist, my beloved M3 is currently with a new garage trying to find what is wrong with her.

It all started about a month after i got her when I found that she was not running quite as i felt she should. I did an oil and filter service (as i had recently put in new Iridium IX plugs) and crossed my fingers...it didn't work. I did some more digging and found that others had been experiencing similar issues with Iridiums so i whipped them out and put in the NGK ones recommended by BMW. Took her for a run and she felt even flatter...£50 down the drain!

I decided that i needed an experts opinion, and as i cannot afford to take it to a stealer, i took her to a BMW specialist about 3 miles from my work. They plugged her in and...no fault codes and live data showed all was well. I went away to think.

A month or so later, and another 2mpg shaved off my consumption i decided to take it back for a more in-depth look. They had it for 36 hours and did numberous road tests and diagnostics only to find that....nothing was wrong.

I decided that it was just me and maybe M3s do indeed feel flat below 3k rpm and only manage 22mpg on a combined cycle and carried on with my life.

Anyway, fast forward to last weekend when mum and i were having a 'car day' and we popped to a local garage to see what they did and could offer our numerous cars. We get there to find that not only is he a BMW specialist with all the relevant diagnostic equipment but he also knows his stuff and so i booked my car in to be looked at on Tuesday (today)

Well, the car has been there since yesterday as he wanted it from dead cold and so far he has only found that...well nothing. This is in no way a slight on him, i am literally beginning to think that there is nothing wrong with the car and it is just the way the M3 is supposed to be.

Stupid thing is that if he comes back and says it is fine, i will accept it and go about my life....after all, i still have an M3!!
